VACATI0N BIBLE SCHOOL -

EGYPT: JOSEPH’S JOURNEY

July 19-23, 2010

5:30 -8:00 PM

The evening will begin at 5:30 PM with dinner. Bible School will begin at 6:00 PM. There will be classes for 3-year-olds through eighth grade. There is no charge for dinner or the program.

Egypt VBS immerses learners of all ages in Bible-times culture helping participants explore what it might have been like to live in a culture that never heard of the one true God. Multi ages groups (families) will gather in the sanctuary for an Opening Celebration where new songs will be learned. Families will meet with for Family Time where they will learn about the culture of Egypt at the time of Joseph. Then families will rotate through Joseph’s Journey (story time), Marketplace Shops (crafts) and Pyramid Playground (games). The families will meet again to review what they have learned and work in their journals. They will also discuss God sightings (how they have experienced God. We will be building a pyramid with tablets of God Sightings. The Closing is a celebration of singing and review!

There is something for everyone to do! Be Joseph (storyteller) crafts leader or assistant, recreation leader or greeter. Family Leaders and assistants are necessary to guide the participants through the evening and to help learners review and understand what they have learned. Please help make this year’s VBS a success!

To volunteer to help or for a registration form, call Gwen Johnson, 610-559-9252, or the church office, 610-253-3579.

Summer Church School – God’s People on the Move

Children have already heard the story of Abraham and Sarah’s journey to a new land and Moses’ story of leading the Israelite from Egypt through the wilderness to the promised land. During the Sundays in July and August children will be on the road to Bethlehem and travel with Jesus as he teaches, heals and walks with the disciples after the resurrection. The summer ends with the story of Paul on the road to Damascus.

The children leave the worship service after the Children’s Sermon to learn about God’s People on the Move. Each journey stands on its own so come and worship while your children learn more about God’s people.

Rally Day and Fall Church School

Mark September 12 on your calendars now as the date when Church School will resume. We will begin with registration and a celebration at 9:45 am. The worship service begins at the regular time at 10:30. The children will adjourn after the Children’s Sermon to the second floor classrooms for a variety of activities. Children three years of age through Kindergarten will be in a self contained classroom for the entire Church School and will be using the Presbyterian curriculum We Believe. Susan Charlton and Susan Stifel are teaching this class.

Children in first through sixth grade will engage in the Rotation model. They will be divided in groups first through third grades and fourth through sixth grades. The first rotation will be the story of Abraham , Sarah, and the birth of Isaac.

Classes for youth in seventh through twelfth will be announced in the September issue of Soundings.

For further information about the Education program, call Gwen Johnson at 610-253-3579 or 610-559-9252.
