today for your meeting tomorrow at 7:00 PM. Mailboxes are in
the hallway by the pastor's office.

PRINT BULLETINS
may
be obtained from an usher.
WELCOME
Today we are pleased to welcome to the pulpit of
First Presbyterian Church the Rev. Roger Purce. Rev. Purce is
the pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Groomsport, County
Down, Northern Ireland. You are invited to hear his discussion
related to issues of Northern Ireland immediately following
today's service. He will speak in the Older Youth Church School
Room, on the second floor of the Church House.
ORGAN
DONATION
Today
is National Donor Sunday. Our Presbyterian Church (USA)
denomination supports and encourages organ and tissue donation
as the ultimate gift from one person to another. Following
worship, discuss organ and tissue donation with your family and
friends. You have the power to save lives. Make the decision to
give the gift of life. Register to be an organ and tissue donor
online today or when you renew your driver's license, and tell
your family about your decision. Register online today to be an
organ and tissue donor at www.donors1.org.
For more information, contact Gift
of Life Donor Program,
the
region's organ and tissue donor program, at 800-DONORS-1 or
visit their website at www.donors1.org.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITMENT SUNDAY
Last Sunday was Stewardship Commitment Sunday.
Pledges (financial commitments) support the ministry and
mission of First Presbyterian Church. Yellow pledge cards for
2009 are on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Please turn
in your pledge card today or as soon as possible. Thank you.
ADULT STUDY
The Adult
Study “Saving Jesus” meets on Sunday mornings from
9:00–10:15 AM in the Millheim Room and is led by Elder
Gary Evans and Dr. Harry Freebairn, our Parish Associate. While
each session builds on the prior week's work, the units are
sufficiently self-contained to be picked up easily. Newcomers
are encouraged to join the group.
ADOPT A
FAMILY
First Presbyterian
Church of Easton is participating in the Adopt-a-Family program
again this holiday season. Adopt-a-Family is organized by the
Spring Garden Children's Center and Third Street Alliance. It
seeks to provide local families in need with gifts and clothes
for Christmas.
For
every child in our assigned family we will collect a sweater,
pants, hat and mittens, a book and a toy. Monetary donations
are used to buy gift cards to Wal-Mart or a local supermarket.
A Christmas tree with paper ornaments is in the Narthex. Each
ornament will include the family member's age, and gift
request. Choose an ornament, buy the gift indicated and bring
the present, wrapped or unwrapped, to church by December 7.
If
you have questions, or would like to help wrap gifts, contact
Becky Bartlett, 610-746-3192.
FRESH FALL
CENTERPIECES
Fall
centerpieces, arranged by LeRoy Cooper, will be available for
your Thanksgiving holiday. Cost is $20.00 each with proceeds
going to the Capital Fund. To
order, sign the sheet on the table in Legacy Hall, or call
Cathy Burnet, 610-588-6738 today.
Pick-up
dates will be Friday, November 21 or Sunday, November 23, at
the church.
GRADEN GOODNESS BY THE QUART
The
Capital Soup Club is at it again! After the reintroduction of
soup-making with our Jack-o-Lantern Soup in October, November
brings back another old favorite, Mrs. McGaughey's Vegetable
Soup. It's a hearty vegetable beef soup using the recipe of
Mrs. Isabelle McGaughey of Rural Valley Grange #1750, who
submitted it to a community cookbook some years back. The soup
features all the goodness of the garden – a medley of
tomatoes, celery, cabbage, carrots, onions, corn, peas, beans,
potatoes and beef. Soup will be available for a
$6.00 per quart donation next Sunday, November 23. Perhaps you
want to serve it as a first course at Thanksgiving dinner, or
have a quick and easy meal while you're getting ready for the
holiday. Volunteers
are needed on Saturday, November 22, to help stir the soup pot.
All proceeds from the soup sales go to the Capital Fund.
Contact Noralee Manzek, 610-868-9521, or Art Charlton,
610-253-5658, to volunteer.
SHAWL MINISTRY
Shawl Ministry
will meet tomorrow, November 17, at 7:00 PM. The group meets in
the Brainerd Gathering Area of the Church House. Contact Fran
Dean, 610-838-7779, for more information. Everyone is welcome
to join in fellowship and refreshment.
CHURCH
SCHOOL
We
are still
looking for
individuals to teach the children and youth of our church about
God’s love, grace, and history. Lesson plans and
materials for the lessons are provided. And if you have a
question or trouble? Let Jen know! She is there to help with
problems, questions, or ideas. Contact Jen Henshue if you want
to try it for a month! 610-737-5881 or jen@henshue.org
YOUTH GROUP
The
5th-9th
grade
Youth Group will meet today from 4:00-6:00 PM. They will work
on service project and mission trip planning. Bring dinner so
you can eat together. Next Sunday, November 23, all the Youth
Groups (grades 1-12) will share a Thanksgiving meal. They will
meet from 4:00-6:00 PM in Legacy Hall. Bring your favorite food
to share with everyone. Call Jen Henshue, 610-737-5881, for
more information.
SANCTUARY FLOWERS
Please
call Ms Rose Marie Leone at 610-258-3063 if you would like to
donate flowers for a Sunday. Sunday, December 28, as well as
dates in 2009 are available. The flowers enhance the beauty of
our worship and are then delivered by the Deacons to the sick
and shut-ins. Due to increased costs, the price of flowers is
now $45.
FROM THE
HEAD USHERS
On Sunday
mornings, the Head Ushers lock the building at 12:30 PM. Please
make sure you have all your belongings before leaving the
building.
SAFE HARBOR
The serving of meals at Safe Harbor on the first
Monday of the month has been an enduring mission of this
congregation. For many years we have fed, eaten with and talked
to homeless people of our area. It is a “hands-on”
ministry. There are several dates available in 2009: January,
February and April. A team, family or group of people can
volunteer to prepare a meal. Please contact Pat Stanek,
610-253-3735, for more information.
MEALS ON WHEELS HELP NEEDED
We need
volunteers to help deliver meals to the area's needy on the
first Friday of each month. It only takes two hours out of your
day to provide such simple, but important help. Contact Pat
Stanek, Mission Team member, 610-253-3735, for more
information. Thank you!
BULLETIN
COVERS
Members and
friends may choose to contribute bulletin covers for one or
more weekly Sunday services. The cost is $10.00. Call Nancy
Penman at 610-253-3579.
PRAYER CHAIN
You are
welcome to put the name of a loved one, friend or neighbor on
the Prayer List. Call the church office. If you would like to
pray for people each week, there are prayer lists on the table
in the back of the sanctuary and in Legacy Hall. To receive the
weekly prayer list by email, contact Nancy Penman at the church
office, 610-253-3579. Prayers do make a difference!
POINSETTIAS AND GREENS
Each Christmas season our sanctuary is beautifully
decorated. If you would like to contribute towards the
poinsettias, greens and decorations, please fill out the form
below and return to the church office by Friday, December 12.
You may have a listing in the bulletin in memory or honor of a
loved one. The cost of one listing is $9.00.
